Test Search

This hyperlink opens the search interface in 'test mode'. This has two effects:

• In Live Search, technical details of errors are placed in HTML comments to not confuse search users. However in Test Search, these errors are printed to the screen, where administrators can make proper use of them.

• It forces the interface to use the search settings listed on the Search Settings page, whether they have been applied to the Live Settings or not. This allows you to test search settings without affecting end users until you are satisfied with the new settings.

This mode also places two extra hyperlinks at the top of the search pages. Back to Administration allows you to return to the Webinator administration interface. Make this appearance live does that too, but it additionally makes the search settings you are testing "live", so that end users also see the search setting effects.
