Functions are composed of HTML and Vortex statements. Any text or
tag which is not recognized as a Vortex statement, directive,
variable, comment or function call is simply printed out. For
example, the HEAD
and TITLE
tags in the banner
function above are not Vortex statements, so they are printed.
To aid in code formatting, any leading whitespace on a literal line
of HTML is stripped in the output. This allows proper indentation of
source code in the Vortex script, while reducing redundant space in
the output. In fact it can lead to a significant reduction in the
size of the output, increasing response time for users on slow
connections. (This stripping does not happen within VERB
elements; see here.)
