Adding Storage

On Gen4 appliances, you may install additional storage for profile walk data. There are 2 methods. You may shutdown the appliance, add new disk(s), then boot the appliance. It should automatically recognize new blank disks and format them for service. Alternatively, if your system supports hot-plug, you may add new disk(s) while the appliance is running. Then on the console menu select Diagnostics, then List free disks to see that your added disk(s) are recognized. Then choose Add all free disks for data use to format the disk(s) and add them to the profile data storage pool.

You can see all of the data disks and their usage levels using the regular web UI at System / Information / System Information → Disk. The disk(s) with partition name(s) having pattern /data0000 are used for profile data.

Each profile's database is a single unit that must fit within one disk. When a profile is created (or a mode New walk started) the disk with the most available space is chosen for it. It will stay on that disk until it is deleted or a mode New walk is performed, at which point the disk with the most available space will be used.
